Over the weekend, I had a small accident.....I broke a small bone below my thumb & the inside bone on my arm just above my wrist.
On Sunday, I was finishing a round of golf, on the 18th hole. I had just hit my drive & went up to the edge of the woods; I stopped the cart & as I jumped out, I stepped on uneven ground & fell. I threw my left hand out to catch myself. I knew I was hurt but wanted to finish.....my arm immediately began to swell so I didn't. I had ice in my beer cooler so my friend I was playing with packed up some ice & put it on my arm. We then set out to find my hubby who was playing on the front 9 with his friends.
We left the course & went to the ER. After waiting 2.5 hours I was called in to be seen by triage. I was in pain, dirty, tired & ready to find an alternative. We asked & were told it would be several more hours of waiting. We left.........
We went to a 'doc in the box' but it was closed on Sundays. I told hubby to just take me home. We went home & got cleaned up, built a splint, took motrin & went to bed. On Monday morning, I called my family doctor & after explaining what happened, they slipped me in that afternoon.
After x-rays, they sent me to an ortho specialist to get another look......he saw the same thing - 2 breaks. So here I sit with a hot pink cast & the chore of learning to function with one hand......
